INFORMATION SECURITY BETWEEN PROFESSION AND ACADEMIA: A SEMINAR AT COLLEGE OF COMPUTER AND INFORMATION

Following the pioneering role play by MU in information security, the College of Computer Science and Information (CCSI) held a seminar titled “ Information Security between Profession and Academia” under the patronage of Mu Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren. 

 

Many distinguished speakers have participated in the seminar such as Dr. Saleh Al-Mutairi, director of national center for e-security at ministry of interior, Dr. Hani Al-Zaid, vice-director of nation center for information technologies at KAST, Dr. Husam Ramadan, vice-rector of Yamah University and information security expert Dr. Yasser Ali.
 
The seminar, moderated by Dean of CCSI, Dr. Hisham Al-Saqeer, comprised four main sessions. The first session, given by Dr. Al-Mutairi, focused on security information in government sectors. Dr. Ramadan stressed, in the second session, the importance of qualifying students in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and national transfer program. The third session highlighted the necessity of research and development in information security field and Dr. Al-Zaid elaborated further the common research field related Malware Analysis. The last session was delivered by Dr. Yasser, in which he talked about entrepreneurship in information security field such as security systems for smart phone and Penetration Testing. 
 
Dr. Al-Saqeer stated that several discussions took place that enriched the seminar followed by concluding the salient outcomes which will be submitted to the concerned department.
