FACULTY OF SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES MOVES TO A NEW BUILDING

 

Sponsored by the Rector Dr. Khaled al-Muqrin, the Faculty of Science and the Humanities in Rumah Province held a celebration marking the transition to a new building built by the university.

 

The celebration was attended by the Governor of Rumah, Mr. Fahad Masood, Vice-rectors of MU University, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Humanities in Rumah, a number of university personnel, heads of Rumah province centers, and a number of managers at the government departments.

 

After their reception, the guests toured the Faculty facilities headed by the Faculty Dean, Dr. Bandar al-Yahia who gave an overview of the departments, classrooms and public facilitates.

 

Later, Dr. Yahia went to the Gathering Hall and welcomed all the audience. He commended the efforts of the University Rector and Vice-rector in speeding the transition process by making it their priority.

 

“Moving to a new building will definitely have a profound effect on the performance of personnel and students due to the comfort and availability of new equipment,” Dr. Yahia added.

 

“I would like to thank Dr. Khalid al-Muqrin and Dr. Mosallam al-Dousari for their complete support of that great achievement,” he concluded.

 

Dr. Mosallam al-Dousari-Vice-rector of the University- delivered a speech in which he welcomed the attendees and gave a detailed explanation of the buildings and facilities as well as the stages of work throughout its establishment.

 

Then he talked about the services offered by the university for its students such as the transportation service and the Unit responsible for following up extreme weather conditions.

 

“This is a tremendous achievement where all efforts at various levels and sectors from inside and outside the university were integrated,” he stated.

 

At the end of his speech, he thanked the Rector for his considerable support in the attempt to achieve the aspirations of the university. He also thanked those who participated in the accomplishment of such a large-scale project.

 

After that a documentary about the College was shown, pointing out the University early intentions to establish its own institutions rather than the rented building that fell short of achieving the mission and goals of the University.

 

 Carefully-designed buildings of the university serve students better by providing academically-appropriate facilities that can make the education process more comfortable and facilitate research inside its premises.

 

The film also showed the building stages of the campus and facilities, which take over the whole land area of 3 million m² along the new highway passing the southern main entrance of the Province.

 

The project covers an area of 50,000 m2 with a student capacity of 9055 students along with faculty and staff members for an overall cost of 80,402,182 SR.

 

The building is divided into 2 separate parts, namely Male and Female sections, with each section consisting of an educational building with 48 classrooms, 8 laboratories, facilities such as a mosque, a library a cafeteria, bathrooms with an area of 6864 m2 with a capacity of 3000 students.

 

The female campus includes an office building with 34 Administrative Offices, a cafeteria, and toilets with total area of 2224 m 2, capacity 900 employees, a multipurpose gymnasium, a warehouse, and other facilities such as receptions, cafeteria, and bathrooms with a total area of 600 m², and capacity for 800 people, and nursery building with 5 administrative offices, and 5 classrooms with a capacity for 255 children.

 

The project was opened at the start of the second semester of 1437-38 academic year.

 

Then Dr. Khalid Al-Muqrin, the University Rector, welcomed the guests and expressed his appreciation for such a great achievement that will contribute to the development of education and research at the University. 

 

Dr. Muqrin referred to the unlimited support for the University by the Government of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, Crown Prince-His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and the Deputy-Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud.

 

The Rector emphasized that the need to preserve the right of this country is by contributing to community service and participating in the solidarity of society.

 

“The University does not focus only on education and scientific research, but it also serves its community in every way possible, he said.

 

“We do not want to stop at such great and wonderful accomplishment. It is the moving forward that defines our determination to progress and development using all the capabilities we have at hand. I also would like to thank all those who made such achievement possible.” The Rector concluded.

 

At the end of the celebration, the Rector awarded medals to the Unit and department heads in and outside the University who contributed to that accomplishment.
