MU RECTOR PATRONIZES GLOBAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK AT THE UNIVERSITY

Under the patronage of MU Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqren, and in the presence of the Vice-Rector, Prof. Mohammed Al-Shaya’a. the Vice-Rector’s Office for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, represented by the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center, celebrated the global entrepreneurship week (GEW) at Majmaah Mall, in cooperation with the Deanship of Community Service and Continues Education.
Global Entrepreneurship Week is the world’s largest celebration of the innovators and job creators who launch startups that bring ideas to life, drive economic growth and expand human welfare.
Entrepreneurship is one of many other sources that contribute in diversifying the sources of national income and therefore generating solutions to the most difficult problem of economy. Moreover, startups are considered the base for economic development and one of the best strategies in utilizing resources optimally in economic and social fields.
The celebration of GEW this year is taking place in parallel with the massive changes at the Kingdom in all areas of life; there is a strong tendency to transform into the knowledge economy in which growth is dependent on the quantity, quality, innovation and accessibility of the information available, rather than the means of production.
Many ambitious entrepreneurs from Majmaah with successful startups stories have participated in the exhibition which was run by many sponsors, such as : Hakaya Al-Ward (successful partner), Photo Time (media sponsor), Blue Shake, Maldives Perfume, Waslaty, Yammey Sweets ، Happy Moments , The empty Quarter , Art tools Store , Princess Sweet. Besides, the Social Development Bank and the Chamber of Commerce have also taken part in the exhibition.

The Vice-Rector, who launched the exhibition and listened to the entrepreneurs’ successful stories, said that the fundamental principle of holding such an event is to promote the culture of entrepreneurship among youths in local community in line with the Kingdom’s vision 2030.
