THE 23RD SUMMIT OF DIRECTORS AND RECTORS OF UNIVERSITIES AND HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INISTITUTIONS IN GCC COUNTRIES HELD AT MU

The 23rd Summit of Directors and Rectors of Universities and Higher Educational Institutions of GCC Countries, which was hosted by MU in the presence of rectors from GCC countries, concluded on Wednesday October 16th, 2019.
After a nice welcome by MU Rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Muqren, the meeting opened by a speech delivered by MU Rector, Al-Muqren who expressed his gratitude for allowing MU to host this important meeting.
Dr. Al-Muqren said that the university is honored to host this meeting which aims to strengthen the bond between GGC countries based on the directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and His Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
According to Dr. Al-Muqren, the universities are led by competent staff in different fields who believed that the human element is behind achieving the sustainable development.
After that, Dr. Adel Al-Zayani, in a speech delivered before the rectors, extended his thanks to MU and the Saudi government – led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques- for hosing this meeting and conveyed the regards of the General Secretary Dr. Abdelateef Al-Zayani.
Several topics on the agenda were discussed in the meeting which was concluded by a final statement and a number of recommendations.

Accompanied by MU Rector, Dr. Al-Muqren, the visitors made a tour to the associated exhibition which includes the major academic accreditation obtained by the university, important academic and administrative achievements, creative innovations, quality centers and community service initiatives.

Majmaah Governor, Prince Abdelrahman Al-Saud also attended the meeting and welcomed the visitors in Saudi Arabia, wishing that this meeting will achieved the planned goals.

After having launch, the visitors saw the community service initiatives such as the Mobile Medical Service and Mobile Social Education and Training Bus, where they listened to a detailed explanation of their services and achievements. The visitors were also introduced to the blood donation bus and ‘Wusul’ for people with special needs.

At the end of the meeting, Dr. Al-Muqren stated that this meeting aims at enhancing cooperation between the GCC countries in the fields of education in general and higher education in particular. The meeting also supports the process of joint cooperation between universities and educational institutions in building a developed Gulf society.
These meetings also aim to activate the rules and regulations of universities and higher education institutions in the Gulf countries related to exchange programs between universities in GCC countries.
He also hoped that the recommendations issued by this meeting will contribute to the process of developing work in higher education institutions in GCC countries and contribute to the success of the development plans in the GCC countries.
