AWARD CEREMONY OF PARTICIPANTS IN THE INITIATIVE ‘FUTURE RESEARCHER’

The Deanship of Community and Continuous Education held an award ceremony for participants in the initiative ‘Future Researcher’ under the patronage of MU rector, Dr. Khalid Al-Mugren and the presence of Director of Education in Majmaah, Dr. Saleh Al-Rabea, vice-rectors, deans and students.
Dr. Saeed Banawwas gave a presentation at the beginning of the ceremony about the initiative which manifests the orientation of the ministry of education towards qualifying talented students to face the future challenges and to build a generation that is capable of coping with scientific and technological development as well as research outcomes locally and internationally.
The initiative was originally proposed by Hail University and was then adopted by the ministry of education to be implemented by seven universities in collaboration with education departments; one of which is Majmaah University.
Dr. Banawwas went on to explain further the initiative, that is to select a group of elementary, middle and high school students who are talented in scientific research skills and link them with faculty members specialized in applied research to conduct research projects with these students.
Dr. Adel Al-Turki talked about the results, indicators and aspirations of the initiative. After conducting several workshops and training courses for students, (10) researches were carried out; two of them were published in specialized scientific journals, three papers have received national awards and two papers were sent internationally. Partnership were formed with companies such SABIC to adopt these researches. The initiative, added Dr. Al-Turki, is expected to be implemented in the remaining governorates.
Addressing the audience, MU rector, Dr. Al-Mugren expressed his gratitude with the success of this initiative of which MU is an essential partner with the education department. The efforts exerted by the university staff, on one hand, and that one made by either public or private sector, on the other, is the reason for this initiative to pay dividends. At the end, MU rector was escorted in a tour to see the research production of students who participated in this initiative.
