SRO REPRESENTS MU IN A WORKSHOP ON TEACHER PREPARATION PROGRAMS

Dr. Faisal Al-Mutairi, Head of Social Responsibility Observatory (SRO), represented Majmaah University (MU) in a workshop on the theme “ Reality of Teachers Preparation Programs in Member States of Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ISESCO)” which took place in the Arab Federation for Sustainable Development and the Environment, Egypt.
A paper was presented by the SRO with the title “ How to develop teacher preparation programs in light of the sustainable development objectives”. The paper focused on highlighting the major role played by teachers in the educational process and how the Kingdom is taking the issue of training teachers seriously.
The reality of teacher preparation programs in Saudi Arabia was also addressed in the paper. A wide-range of approaches are implemented in colleges of education to qualify teachers, however, all of these schools have one thing in common, and that is all the training programs should address the academic, professional and cultural aspects. The paper was concluded with a number of recommendations concerning the development of the teacher preparation programs in light of sustainable development objectives.
