Academic Counseling Guide Academic counseling is a professional service aims to identify the problems that impede student educational achievement and interact with university life needs. It provides help and support through increasing the students’ awareness about their academic responsibilities and encouraging them to exert more efforts to handle their academic and personal problems. This can be achieved through providing students with various academic skills and discussing their academic ambitions. Academic counseling seeks to reflect the college ambitions to help students understand their academic problems and find the right solutions to have a generation armed with knowledge and science. Another goal of academic counseling is to enable students to have an effective role in development of our country through achieving the following objectives: To create positive environment for students and to strengthen social relationships with students, faculty members and university staff.- To improve students’ reactions to face various academic matters.-To prepare new students for university life and that can be achieved through organizing guidance and orientation programs as well as an introductory week and specialized courses as ways to introduce the university environment, the college, deanships and supporting departments.- To raise students’ awareness about academic difficulties and study skills and how to prepare study plans and schedule. -To help students how to choose the suitable major based on their abilities, areas of interests and labor market requirements. -To encourage outstanding students to invest their abilities and skills in areas that would fit their interests.-To supervise weak students to assist them to acquire the necessary skills. -To provide a special care to students with special needs during their university life to communicate with academic environment.
