Under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Vice Rector, chairman of the committee of safety and security at the university Dr. Musalam bin Mohammed Al Dosari, the committee held its seventh and eighth session for the academic year 1435/1436 on 05/04/1436. The committee reviewed a number of topics relevant to the committee's work. Most importantly, follow up the content telegram of the Minister of Higher Education about the recommendations of the committee formed to discuss the issue of throwing medical rubbish in the municipal waste sites. The committee recommended to address the competent authorities to supply medicines according to the need only, and taking into consideration the appropriate storage places upon request. Chairman of the committee stressed to observe what mentioned of regulations in this regard and benefit from the experience and expertise of universities and government interests in getting rid of medical waste.
The committee also discussed the participation of the university in the third scientific forum for workers in the field of safety in the universities. It recommended to publish the scientific file of the forum on the site of the university through electronic portals to the competent authorities (General Department University Safety and Security , University Environment Department, and Occupational Health).
After that, It discussed the letter which was coming from university environment deparment and occupational health about holding a workshop for deans of the colleges to explain the list of safety and fire protection in the labs. Then, It discussed administration's letter about producing awareness and educational film deals with safety inside educational institutions, the committee has recommended to transfer these recommendations to the sub-committee of awareness and edification.
In addition, the committee discussed the issues suggested by the members of the committee, which are proposed to send them to the Ministry of Education for discussion at the fifth meeting for the Vice Rectors of universities who are responsible on the project, operation, maintenance, security and safety of the student's space in the classroom and practical laboratory. The committee has recommended to complete its revision and prepare it to be presented at the next meeting of the committee.
The committee reviewed the letter of His Excellency, the general director of the operation and maintenance department about the number of gas tanks and their sizes in university. The committee recommended to address the operation and maintenance department whether there are existed contracts for the maintenance of the gas tanks, and what is the mechanism used to contract and coordination with the general department university safety and security about the conditions and specifications of the gas tanks and safety requirements must be existed and followed.
