UNIVERSITY SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL RECOMMENDS NEW CRITERIA FOR PROMOTIONS AND SCIENTIFIC COMMUNICATION.

The 19th and 20th meeting of the scientific council for the academic year 1435-1436 was held on 17/05/1436 H under the presidency of Prof. Muhammad Al-Shaye, Vice-rector of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Majmaah University and head of the scientific council with the attendance of the council members. Dr. Shaye pointed out that the council discussed recommendations of the Promotion Committee concerning the publication approval criteria in scientific magazines by members of staff applying for promotion. The council decided that a faculty’s publication must not be restricted to one country to ensure the quality of published research. Prof. AL-Shaye stated also that The University Rector, approved the new publishing criterion added by the council which stipulates that at least 50% of the submitted research must be published in Saudi, Gulf or international classified scientific magazines such as ISI or SCOPUS, the council being given the right to add other prestigious journals, with the exception of the research published or accepted to be published before the date of the meeting. Additionally, Prof. AL-Shaye added that the council approved the scientific communications for the following candidates: 1- Dr. Wajdi Bin Ali Al-Omari to study French before specializing in endocrinology and IVF in France. 2- Dr. Muhammad Al-Mansour to follow his specialized medical program. 3- Dr. Bader Muhammadi to carry further research on Rheumatic diseases at Prince Sultan Military Medical City.
