A royal decree was issued to establish the faculty of science in Alzulfi on 18th of Sha'ban 1426 H, to be another brick in the edifice of higher education, and part of a university city in Alqaseem. The study in the Faculty of science started in the academic year of 1427/1428, and the college includes four departments: the Department of Mathematics, The Department of Computer Science and Information, and The department of Laboratory Medicine, in addition to the preparatory year program for the department of laboratory medicine and the department of Computer Science and Information. Also, science year preparation for the departments of Mathematics and Physics. Moreover, teaching the basic science for the students of Dentistry College at the college.
The new science students are accepted either in the preparatory year program of laboratory Medicine and computer departments or in the science year preparation for the departments of Maths and Physics for one year, and details as follows:
First: the Preparatory Year:
This year is considered a preparatory year for students who want to specialize in the department of laboratory medicine, or the department of computer science and information. The GPA of this year is not calculated with the total of GPA for the student. The aim of this year is to prepare the students to receive the academic education highly, in addition to the skills of English Language, and train the students on the skills of thinking and learning.
Second: The Program of Natural Science Preparation
This year is considered a preparatory year for students who want to specialize in the departments of Physics or Mathematics. The GPA of this year is calculated with the total GPA for the student. Where he studies later six semesters in the departments of Physics or Mathematics. The aim of this year is to prepare the students to receive the academic education highly, and train the students on teaching methodologies and the skills of thinking and learning
